Zangge Mining Holds Project Deliverables Handover and Specialized Training for the Qarhan Salt Lake 3D Geological Modeling Project
To accelerate the digital transformation of its mining operations and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of refined salt lake resource management, Zangge Mining commissioned Zijin Xiamen Geological Exploration Institute to develop a three-dimensional (3D) geological model of the Qarhan Salt Lake potash and magnesium salt deposit.
Recently, the Company’s Geological Exploration Department organized a week-long program involving its subsidiaries and technical experts from the Institute, covering the handover of modeling deliverables, hands-on training, and technical exchanges. The program featured specialized discussions on the differences between solid and liquid mineral deposit modeling in salt lake environments, technical optimization, and practical applications in production operations. These activities effectively enhanced frontline technical personnel’s practical 3D geological modeling skills and their ability to apply digital technologies in daily operations.

Qarhan Salt Lake is a typical liquid mineral deposit characterized by specialized solution-mining processes, complex brine occurrence and migration patterns, and variable orebody boundaries. These characteristics limit the applicability of conventional geological modeling methods designed for solid mineral deposits.
Tailored to the geological and operational characteristics of salt lake deposits, the training focused on specialized modeling methodologies for liquid mineral deposits and their adaptation to production requirements. Combining theoretical instruction, case studies, and hands-on practice, the program systematically covered key topics including data processing, stratigraphic interpretation, orebody delineation, and mineral resource estimation. Comparative analysis and validation demonstrated the advantages of implicit geological modeling in terms of accuracy and applicability.
Drawing on actual production conditions, participants explored ways to optimize geological model development and engaged in in-depth discussions on challenges related to model updates, data integration, and on-site applications. The discussions highlighted the need to continuously refine a specialized 3D geological modeling system based on the unique characteristics of salt lake resources and solution-mining processes, ensuring that the models provide accurate and reliable support for production decision-making.

The program successfully completed all scheduled activities, including the handover of modeling deliverables, technical training, and knowledge exchange. Participants systematically acquired essential skills in salt lake geological modeling and gained a clearer understanding of the differences between modeling solid and liquid mineral deposits, laying a solid technical foundation for the practical application of the modeling results.
Going forward, Zangge Mining will continue to integrate geological data, refine its 3D geological models, and promote the integration of modeling results into resource management, mining operations, and scientific decision-making. By leveraging digital technologies to support the efficient development of salt lake resources, the Company aims to further advance the digital transformation of its mining operations.
