Chinese Ambassador to Laos Fang Hong Visits Zangge Laos Company

On the morning of July 8, 2026, Fang Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Laos, and her delegation visited Zangge Mining (Laos) Development Co., Ltd. for research and guidance. The delegation extended greetings to frontline Chinese employees, held a thematic symposium, gained an on-site understanding of the progress of the potash mine project, and reviewed challenges in project advancement, providing targeted support and guidance for the high-quality development of the Company’s overseas project.

At the symposium, the management team of Zangge Laos Company provided the delegation with a detailed briefing on the basic information of the Laos potassium chloride project. The briefing focused on the project’s resource endowment, investment planning, temporary facilities construction, safety and environmental management, and fulfillment of overseas social responsibility. The Company also reported in a factual manner on the difficulties currently encountered during project advancement, and requested the Embassy’s coordination and support to help promote the lawful, compliant, and efficient progress of the project.

Ambassador Fang Hong expressed strong recognition of the Company’s efforts to take root in Laos, pragmatically advance the project, and actively fulfill its social responsibility. She noted that Laos attaches great importance to economic and industrial development, and that mining development can help increase local fiscal revenue and drive local employment. It is a high-quality cooperation sector that delivers mutual benefits for both China and Laos.

She particularly emphasized that China-Laos cooperation in the potash fertilizer industry already has a solid policy foundation. The establishment of a comprehensive cooperation mechanism for mineral resource development and support for Chinese enterprises in building potash fertilizer production bases in Laos have been included in the Joint Statement on Building an All-Weather China-Laos Community with a Shared Future in the New Era. At present, Laos is continuing to improve the business environment for the mining industry and is selectively introducing high-quality enterprises with strong capabilities, advanced technologies, and sound compliance performance, providing favorable opportunities for Zangge Mining to further develop the local market.

Ambassador Fang further pointed out that the development of potash resources is closely related to national food security and carries significant strategic value. The industry requires large investment, has a long development cycle, and involves high thresholds in safety, environmental protection, and technology. Laos is also continuously raising industry access standards. She encouraged the Company to adopt a long-term development perspective, adhere to scientific decision-making, advance the project steadily, overcome technical bottlenecks one by one, strictly uphold the bottom lines of safety and environmental protection, and strive to build a benchmark project in the industry.

In response to the Company’s requests, Ambassador Fang made it clear that the Embassy will fully leverage its role as a bridge and actively communicate with relevant competent authorities in Laos to coordinate efforts to address key obstacles in project advancement. She also expressed the hope that the Company will continue to strengthen communication with the government, further refine and optimize its technical solutions as well as safety and environmental protection measures, clearly convey its commitment to compliant operations and green development, and promote the early approval and implementation of the project.

This research visit helped address practical difficulties faced by the Company and strengthened its confidence in development, while providing important guidance for the standardized construction and high-quality advancement of the project. Going forward, Zangge Laos Company will thoroughly implement the guidance from the visit, seize the opportunities arising from the building of the China-Laos community with a shared future and the economic corridor, firmly uphold the bottom lines of safety and environmental protection, fulfill its local responsibilities, and steadily advance project construction. The Company will make every effort to build the project into a benchmark for China-Laos mining cooperation and contribute Zangge’s strength to deepening practical economic and trade cooperation between China and Laos.
